BOARD MINUTES

Northshore Harbor Center Board

Thursday, December 6, 2018, 9:00 a.m.

100 Harbor Center Blvd., Slidell, LA

The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. by Chairman Mark Myers.  Mr. Myers gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Present:  Carol Beech, Stephanie Berault, Martin Bruno, Kurt Bozant, Carrie Calvin, Kevin Davis, Mark Myers, Darrell Smith, Kathleen Wilkin.  Also present:  Kathy Lowrey, Valerie Waeltz and Kelly Gowland.  Absent:  Irma Cry, Martin Jackson, Donna O’Daniels, Martin Patel, Thomas Shinn.

A quorum was present.

The Board moved to the reading and approval of the November 1st meeting minutes.  A motion to accept was made by Darrel Smith, with a second by Kevin Davis.  The minutes were unanimously approved.

The meeting moved to Old Business.  Ms. Lowrey provided an update on the Master Plan Committee.  The call scheduled with the Parish to discuss trees in the median was postponed until January.  Ms. Lowrey stated that she is obtaining proposals for our landscaping to ensure the lowest rate.

Ms. Lowrey updated the Board on the status of the rebranding project.  She stated that the new business card, letterhead, notecard and website designs were well under way.  TCI Communications will provide dates for Board and staff photos to be taken.  Building photos will also be taken.  The brand launch had been scheduled for January 15th.

Ms. Lowrey then provided an update on the success of the Wildeyes Concert at the Lobby Lounge concert series.  She provided information on the Ellisa Sun concert on January 31st, 2019, as well as bookings for other months.  Ms. Calvin suggested the possibility of having t-shirts available with the full concert schedule on it once the schedule has been filled.

The meeting moved to new business.  Mr. Bruno presented the 2019 budget.  Discussion ensued and the budget was tabled until the January meeting.

Ms. Lowrey suggested that Mr. John Case be scheduled to attend a Board meeting to provide a review of the facility’s insurance.  The Board indicated that they would like for her to do so.

Ms. Lowrey then presented the General Manager’s report.  She provided an update on the Friends of the Harbor Center’s Northshore Food Truck Festival.  She also shared the success of the Marine Band concert, stating that over 700 people attended and 602 toys were collected.  She explained that the toys would be distributed on December 19th.

Ms. Waeltz then presented the sales report.  The meeting adjourned at 10:35
