BOARD MINUTES

Northshore Harbor Center Board

Thursday, November 1, 2018, 9:00 a.m.

100 Harbor Center Blvd., Slidell, LA

The meeting was called to order at 9:02 a.m. by Chairman Mark Myers.  Mr. Myers gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Present:  Martin Bruno, Irma Cry, Martin Jackson, Mark Myers, Darrell Smith, Kevin Davis, Martin Patel, Kurt Bozant and Kathleen Wilkin.  Also present:  Kathy Lowrey, Valerie Waeltz and Kelly Gowland.  Absent:  Carol Beech, Stephanie Berault, Carrie Calvin, Donna O’Daniels and Thomas Shinn.

Introduction of Office Manager Kelly Gowland was made to The Board.

The Board moved to the reading and approval of the October 4th meeting minutes.  A motion to accept was made by Kevin Davis, with a second by Darrell Smith.  The minutes were unanimously approved.

The meeting moved to Old Business.  Ms. Lowrey provided an update on the Master Plan Committee.  She continues to work with the Parish Officials in regards to lighting, trees and welcome signage.

Ms. Lowrey and Ms. Waeltz stated that she had a recent conference call with Ms. Bobbie Carey and the group working on the website to discuss the ideas they have for it.   The goal is a fresh look that will market to bring outside business be very community and user friendly so that the community knows what’s happening at the Harbor Center.  Everything is progressing with the rebranding.  Their proposed launch date is scheduled for early 2019.

Ms. Lowrey stated the DR Horton, their marketing representative who arrived in this area, reached out to discuss advertising on the sign and was interested in other ways to work together

The meeting moved to New Business.  Ms. Lowrey provided an update regarding catering.   Discussion ensued.

Commissioner Activities:   Carrie Calvin, recipient of the Young Athena Award.

Moving on to the General Manager Report, Ms. Lowrey explained it is a really busy season on all upcoming events and she asked all board members to mark their calendars so they may be able to attend.

Ms. Lowrey spoke to the Marines and asked them to shop for toys at the local Walmart for the Toys for Tots event and they will do so again this year.  Last year we distributed 2456 toys to 643 children.

Sales income, new and pending contracts and rate codes clients may use at local hotels.

Mr. Smith motioned to adjourn.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:56 a.m.
