WE ARE BACK FOR 2021!

Now that things are beginning to look more “normal” in the world, its time to bring back the very popular SLIDELL NEWCOMERS SELL-A-BRATION ARTS AND CRAFT SHOW!

In 2019 we had crafters from 4 states (LA, TX, MS, and AR) with us. They brought Jewelry (from beaded to semi-precious stones) woodworking (bird houses, carvings, small furniture), Ceramics, Oyster shell art, Fabric art, Embroidered while you wait items, Wind chimes from recycled glass bottles, Food packed to take home to your family or mixes to create something tasty later, Soaps, lotions, essential oils all designed to make you feel and smell wonderful. And that is just a small listing of the wonderful, unique items you found at the 2019 show.

Our 39th annual show will be held in The Harbor Center on October 2nd & 3d, 2021.  We’ve had such great shows since 2007 that we are staying here permanently. They have upgraded wi-fi connection, there is an ATM in the lobby and their (very) large sign next to Interstate 10 is up and running.  The Harbor Center is located at 100 Harbor Center Blvd, Slidell, LA.  This is off I-10 at exit 261, Oak Harbor near the Twin Spans bridge.

We have been growing larger every year.  In 2007 and 2008 we had 47 booths and approximately 1000 to 1200 people come through the doors to visit our crafters. And in 2015 we had 76 booths of various sizes  (a full house) and we estimate 2300- 2500 visitors. In 2017 we had 75 crafters including the 3 in the lobby and our traffic was close to 2500. In 2019, we had 78 crafters and overflowed to the hallway.  This is an estimate based on both visual and our raffle sales since we are a free-admission event.

If two or more crafters have similar items, we will work hard to separate you as much as possible in our very large event center so please let us know what crafts  you are bringing to our show. If you have special needs or want to be next to a friend, please let us know.  We will accommodate you if we can.

We require that all items in our show be handcrafted. “You don’t have to weave the cloth but you do have to embellish it yourself.”  We do not allow companies with only manufactured items to be in our show. If in doubt, call Barbara and ask.

We are excited that this beautiful event center allows us to offer more booth space, 3 sizes of booth space (10 x 10 ft – $110, 10 x 15 ft – $165, and 10 x 20 ft – $220, or larger by special request) and for $10 each 8 ft long tables with skirting, lots of electrical outlets ($30) and free wireless.  We take registration forms right up to the last minute if there are spaces available.

There is a loading dock in the rear of the building that allows us to  accommodate larger craftsmen who usually do outside shows.  Our load in times are 3 pm – 6 pm Friday afternoon and 8 am – 10 am Saturday morning.

Click on the Registration Form on the left to download or e mail me and I will be happy to e mail or snail mail you an original since this one is a little squeezed to accommodate the site.

We spent approximately $4000 in advertising in 2019.  We have advertising in  The Times Picayune/ Advocate newspaper, Slidell Magazine, Clipper Magazine, Bargains Plus  (a freebie newspaper usually available at grocery stores, etc), as well as radio ads, flyers and listings in various other newspapers and magazines that are distributed in the local area. We utilize Facebook.  We also put ground signs around town the week of the show.  The Harbor Center advertises our show on their website, Facebook, and giant billboard on I-10

Pattons, a local caterer, is set up in the lobby of the Northshore Harbor Center with such foods as hot dogs, chicken salad, nachos, jambalaya, chili and drinks.

Slidell Newcomers’ Club holds a raffle for several “baskets” and a 50/50 raffle with the drawings held Sunday around 3:45 PM.  We hold the right to have the only raffle in the show.

Our crafters who return each year tell us that we are one of the friendliest shows they do.  We provide donuts to the vendors on Saturday morning, coffee all weekend and offer assistance if it is needed whether it is loading into the Center or simply “holding the fort” for a single crafter while they take a much needed break.

This year we have moved the show to the first weekend of October, due to a conflict at The Harbor Center.

Below are some pictures of a couple of our shows or see our Photo Gallery for photos of the past several year’s shows.
